The government’s objective is to diversify the sector by promoting the downstream industries that maximize the multiplier effect and add value, through the creation of linkages between the sector and the rest of the economy.<\/font><\/div>
SERVICES<\/b><\/a>
The Services Sector is the largest sector in the Trinidad and Tobago economy, contributing annually on average $TT 43 billion ($US 6.8 billion) to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) accounting for over 60 percent of GDP during 2001-2005.<\/font><\/div>
YACHTING<\/b><\/a>
This industry is in a state of growth internationally. With an increasing number of persons retiring early, and higher average incomes, there is an increasing amount of leisure time. Furthermore, a greater proportion of leisure time is now being spent in water-based activity.

FISH AND FISH PROCESSING<\/b><\/a>
The fish and fish processing industry have a long and deep history in Trinidad & Tobago. Given our strategic geographical location and the diverse nature of the fish resource, much potential remains for the development of the industry, particularly in offshore fleet.

MERCHANT MARINE<\/b><\/a>
The local maritime industry is built principally on servicing the local energy industry and growing non-energy transshipment trade. The industry has also developed competitive ancillary sectors in bunkering, marine construction and ship repair.

PRINTING AND PACKAGING<\/b><\/a>
The Plastics, Printing and Packaging (PPP) cluster is a key manufacturing industry employer and a major value-adding industry sector. The PPP cluster comprises some 330 firms employing approximately 11,000 persons. This country has a strong track record in exporting plastics and packaging materials. Opportunities for growth of this industry exist with product expansion and increased use of up-to-date technology.

MUSIC AND ENTERTAINMENT<\/b><\/a>
Global market demand for cultural commodities continues to rise steadily, particularly within the entertainment and media industry. In 2003, global expenditure on entertainment and media surpassed US$1.1 trillion.<\/font><\/div>
FILM INDUSTRY<\/b><\/a>
The development of the film industry will not only generate employment and foster economic activity but also assists in highlighting and preserving the nation\'s culture, act as a conduit for the transfer of morals and values and contribute to the evolution of our social processes.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE INDUSTRY<\/b><\/a>
The food and beverage industry is currently the largest in the non-energy manufacturing sector in Trinidad and Tobago. In many respects, Trinidad and Tobago is already considered the food and beverage-manufacturing hub for the Region.
